Maharashtra - Monsoon Getaways


Hillside hamlets and getaways in Maharashtra offer one of the best view of nature during the monsoon season. Major attraction points in Maharashtra are Konkan coastal strip along with the Arabian Sea and the Western Ghats aka the Sahyadri Range. Few are located at a height of 2000-3000 ft and come alive with waterfalls, mist and intermittent rainfall in Monsoon. Trekking is pursued around these areas.

Matheran

Matheran is a smallest Hill Station of India located in the Raigad district Maharashtra. It is located in the Western Ghats range. Its distance from Mumbai is around 90 KM, and 120 KM from Pune. There are lots of designated look-out points, including the Panorama Point that provides a 360 degree view of the surrounding area and provides the spectacular view of sunset and sunrise. The other points are Hart Point, Tree Hill Point, Monkey Point, Rambgh Point, Porcupine Point and more.

Matheran is an eco-sensitive region where vehicles are not allowed, which makes the place different from others. You need to park your car at Dasturi Naka, 3 kms away from railways station of Matheran. There is an army of around five hundred trained & disciplined horses which is being used for purpose of transportation of luggage and others are equipped for traveling with you and for you.

Temperature vary from 32° C in summer to 16° C in winter. There is an annual rainfall of 524 cms. October to May is the best time to visit.

Lonavala - Khandala

Lonavala, one of the twin hill stations adjacent to Khandala have a special attraction for Mumbai / Pune crowd seeking a convenient and accessible weekend holiday. Monsoon is the best time to visit salubrious climate and scenic views of Lonavala-Khandala

These hill stations sprawl over an approximate area of 38 square kilometers with many attractions like Bhushi Dam, Valvan Dam, Kaivalyadhama Yoga Hospital, Duke’s Nose, Ryewood Park, Tiger’s Leap.

Temperature vary from 30° C in summer to 11° C in winter.

Mahabaleshwar - Panchgani

The spurting waterfalls, soaring peaks, breathtaking valleys with greenery all around and mist is the most beautiful part of visiting Mahabaleshwar during rains. Panchagani (Panch(5) + Gani(hill)) as the name suggests is surrounded by five hills, and is about 19 kms, from Mahableshwar.

Though the climate is pleasant throughout the year, but the best time to visit is between October to June. Temperature vary from 20° C in summer to 16° C in winter

Pune and Mumbai both are well connected with Mahabaleshwar by rail.
